Muskoka Music Fest lands in Gravenhurst this weekend
This weekend, August 19th - 21st, Dockside Festival of the Arts and its new sister festival Muskoka Music Festival presented by TD, return to beautiful Gravenhurst, Ontario for the 2022 edition! Today we are thrilled to announce Juno nominated artist Terra Lightfoot will now headline the Opera House show on Saturday evening, with very special guest AHI. "As a new resident of the area, I’m thrilled to be added to an already fantastic lineup at Muskoka Music Fest!" says Terra. Due to an unexpected family health emergency, Whitehorse is unable to perform. From the band - "We are sad to be disappointing our fans and friends in Gravenhurst and we don't take this at all lightly. We know everyone will be in great musical hands with Terra. We hope to play the festival another year."
Founder and Artistic Director of Muskoka Music Festival Miranda Mulholland shares; "While we are disappointed that Whitehorse is unable to perform for the festival, we all believe that family comes first and are thinking about them during this difficult time. We are so delighted that Terra Lightfoot is able to step in to share her powerhouse voice and gifted guitar playing with her trio at the newly refurbished Opera House. We hope that previous ticket purchasers will still join us at Saturday night's concert featuring Terra and special guest AHI in this highly-anticipated return of the Muskoka Music Festival." Tickets for the Opera House show are available here, and refunds are available at the point of purchase.
Dockside Festival of the Arts begins this Friday, August 19th. The weekend will wrap up on Sunday evening with Muskoka Music Festival closing out the 2022 Music on the Barge series with performances from Fred Schulz, The Heavyweights Brass Band, Alex Pangman & The Sweet Hots, and The Devin Cuddy Band. A tradition for over 50 years, beautiful Gull Lake Rotary Park has played host to Gravenhurst's Music on the Barge program offering a variety of live concerts each Sunday evening from mid-June to the end of August.
In an effort to make all of this amazing music more accessible, many of the shows are by donation. We work hard to make art accessible. Please consider contributing if you can at the marked stations in the parks in appreciation for the talent on offer and to support our not-for-profit festivals.
In November of 2021, the Muskoka Music Festival was selected by the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce to be the new owners and operators of the legacy event Dockside Festival of the Arts. Miranda saw this as the perfect opportunity to integrate music in a significant way into the already popular artisan village and celebrate the past and future of Gravenhurst down by the wharf as well as downtown. Operating Dockside, which has been running for over 25 years, and Muskoka Music Festival as sister festivals will make the third week of August the crown jewel of summer in Muskoka.
