Accommodation tax group donates $50K to Huntsville Hospital Foundation
On Wednesday, the Huntsville Municipal Accommodation Tax Association (HMATA) donated $50,000 to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
The group says that during the summer months, hospital utilization increases due to a mix of local and seasonal residents, as well as tourists in the town.
Recognizing the impact of this increase on hospital staff and infrastructure, the Huntsville Municipal Accommodation Tax Association (HMATA), whose mission is to promote and enhance tourism in Huntsville, made the $50,000 commitment to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
"When you think about how and who tourism has a significant impact on, it's the health-care system," Kelly Haywood, executive director of HMATA. "It's important and prudent for us to be supporting the hospital in its growth."
