Huntsville confirms Ransomware attack in cyber security incident
The Town of Huntsville advised residents yesterday, that the cyber security incident was indeed a ransomware attack.
The town says that the attack that occurred on March 10th compromised some data, it's uncertain if personal information was affected.
A thorough investigation is underway, expected to take several weeks. The town promises that any affected individuals will be notified directly if personal information was compromised. Mayor Nancy Alcock is assuring the community of transparency and updates as the investigation progresses.
The investigation is ongoing and details about ransom payment and prevention measures was not disclosed for security reasons.
The attack in Huntsville came two weeks after officials in Hamilton learned of a similar cybersecurity incident targeting that city.
