Needles found at Bowyers Beach in Bracebridge

Posted: 2023-06-05 07:58:13 By: thebay

The Town of Bracebridge reported on Friday that as a result of the incident at Kirby’s Beach Park, staff reviewed Bowyer’s Beach Park and found sewing needles at the end of the dock. The beachfront and water access at Bowyer’s Beach Park will be closed until further notice for a thorough investigation. The washroom facilities and picnic tables will remain open.

The town says after sewing needles were found in the water at Kirby’s beach on May 31, Town of Bracebridge Public Works crews closed the beach and began an extensive inspection of the area which included six complete in-water grid searches and beach raking. The town says the beach and waterfront areas are safe for use, however visitors to the beach are asked to use caution and be aware of their surroundings. With the continuous movement of sand and water, debris can travel.
