Kat of Nine is a collection of nine short stories that lead the reader through some lesser-known aspects of Cuban history, as seen through the eyes of strong, memorable women. Although these tales are fictional, they are entirely plausible! From one generation to another, the Kat of Nine heroines observe and participate in the evolution of Cuba during intriguing and turbulent times. Their accounts ring true for life on the island, beginning in 1492.
The nine tales are intended to introduce readers to characters who could have taken part in Cuban history. They shine light on Cuba’s interesting past, rich culture and a selection of the nation’s incredibly talented artists. Each of the stories is illustrated by an original piece that was created by a professional artist from the Granma province, where many of the stories are set. The Kat of Nine short story collection provides an opportunity to learn more about Cuba in an unusual and dynamic way.
