Muskoka Authors Association invites writers of every genre and experience level to an inspiring evening with author and professional editor Emily Ohanjanian on Thursday, August 13 at Bracebridge United Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 7:00 p.m. Guests are welcome.
For many aspiring authors, finishing a manuscript is only the beginning of the publishing journey. Emily Ohanjanian will share practical advice on what happens after the first draft is complete, drawing on more than fifteen years of experience as an editor with a Big Five publishing house and her more recent experience as a debut novelist.
Emily lives with her family in Toronto, where she works as a professional book editor. After years of helping other writers bring their stories to life, she turned her lifelong love of joyful, escapist, romantic fiction into her own writing. Her debut novel, The Book Tour, marks the beginning of that exciting new chapter.
During her presentation, “You’ve Written Your Novel… Now What?”, Emily will guide writers through the crucial first steps toward publication. Topics include effective self-editing, understanding and positioning your work within its genre, preparing a manuscript for industry professionals, exploring traditional and self-publishing options, and developing a thoughtful strategy for entering today’s publishing world.
Whether you’re polishing your first manuscript or preparing your fifth, Emily’s practical insights and behind-the-scenes knowledge will help demystify the publishing process and give writers greater confidence as they move toward publication.
The Muskoka Authors Association welcomes writers at every stage of their creative journey. Monthly meetings feature accomplished authors, industry professionals, workshops, and opportunities to connect with a supportive community of fellow writers.
