MAHC clarifies misconceptions around new hospital plans
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is clarifying some misconceptions about its redevelopment plans.
The MAHC’s CEO Cheryl Harrison says that both hospital sites will maintain full-service capabilities and undergo enhancements, supported by a $1 billion investment from the province.
Despite misconceptions, Harrison says MAHC's redevelopment plans thoroughly consider population growth and utilize comprehensive demographic data alongside utilization feedback to exceed community healthcare needs.
The revised plan, shaped by stakeholder feedback, aims to meet local healthcare demands effectively, reducing the necessity for patient transfers and establishing MAHC as an attractive workplace for medical professionals.
She maintains that both sites will continue to offer essential hospital services without reduction, and with enhancements strategically aimed at improving care.
Engagement sessions will continue until June, fostering discussion with internal staff, physicians, community groups, and the public to refine plans before submission to the ministry in the fall.
