Cape Breton folk duo Madison Violet is returning to Huntsville for a farewell performance on October 26 at the Algonquin Theatre.
After more than two decades of blending folk, pop, and East Coast roots, Madison Violet is preparing for a final bow at the Huntsville Festival of the Arts. The JUNO-nominated duo, made up of Cape Breton natives Lisa MacIsaac and Brenley MacEachern, will take the stage at the Algonquin Theatre on October 26 for what promises to be a heartfelt farewell performance.
Formed in the late 1990s, Madison Violet quickly became known for their lush harmonies, emotionally resonant songwriting, and impressive instrumental versatility. Over the years, they have released more than ten albums, with their self-produced 2020 record Eleven standing out as perhaps their most personal work to date. Their music has earned them a Canadian Folk Music Award and millions of streams worldwide, and they have built a devoted following both in Canada and abroad.
Beyond their music, MacIsaac and MacEachern have been vocal advocates for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and social justice, weaving their values into their artistry and public presence. Their performances have long been celebrated for the way they connect with audiences, turning intimate stories and lived experiences into universally relatable songs.
Despite their continued creative success, Madison Violet has announced this will be their final tour. While the duo has not publicly outlined every reason for their decision, they have cited a desire to focus on personal projects and lives outside the road, as well as a natural conclusion to the shared chapter that has defined their careers. For fans, this farewell concert represents not just the end of an era, but an opportunity to celebrate the lasting impact of their music.
The Algonquin Theatre performance will kick off at 7:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $50 for general admission, $42.50 for members, and $25 for youth under 20.
For Huntsville audiences, the show is more than just a concert—it’s a homecoming. Madison Violet has a long history of performing in the area, and the festival stage provides a fitting venue for reflection on a career marked by artistic integrity, heartfelt storytelling, and a deep connection to fans. The evening promises to be a mix of celebration, nostalgia, and gratitude, honoring the duo’s legacy while giving audiences a chance to say goodbye in person.
As they prepare to close this chapter, MacIsaac and MacEachern leave behind a rich musical catalogue that will continue to inspire both fans and fellow musicians for years to come. Their farewell concert in Huntsville is a final reminder of the enduring power of folk music to tell stories, bridge communities, and leave a lasting emotional imprint.
