Saturday Night Classic Rock
Hello there… I’m Randy, host of the Saturday Night Classic Rock Show. Join me every weekend from 6-10 for some musical nostalgia right here in Muskoka. The best thing about Classic Rock is the huge variety of music that can qualify for that genre. What I don’t like about it, is the fact that the new music that came out when I was in high school, is now consider Classic Rock. That makes ma feel old.
I’m an adventurer at heart. I’ve stood atop the roof of Africa, skied big mountains and paddled big water on four continents and pedaled my bike through forty-two countries. I used to work as a teacher, spent some time in the not-for-profit sector, an international tour guide and I’ve been in the ski industry for the last decade. I like school… I’ve been to university in Thunder Bay, Kamloops and Aberystwyth (10 points if you can tell me where that is?)
I’m not a professional musician, but I’m a trained percussionist, a hack on the guitar and I like to sing in the shower. I’ve performed in symphony orchestras, marching samba bands, drum troops, garage bands and when living in Wales, I even managed to convince my folk band to do a cover of a gansta rap song! I love rhythm, it’s the heartbeat of all music. There may a slight bias in my song selection and commentary that places a strong focus on drummers.
My favorite Rule of Travel is that if you hear drums, stop whatever you’re doing and go find them. Good things are always sure to follow. Between my endeavours, I’ve been loitering about Muskoka for thirty years. Its great to be part of the team at HBR, long live Community Radio!
