Take the mystery and fear out of social media with artist, writer and entrepreneur Erika Scott
Love it or loathe it, social media has become an essential tool for anyone looking to grow a business, promote their creative work or connect with an audience. But where do you begin, and how do you keep up with ever-changing trends without feeling overwhelmed?
The Muskoka Authors Association invites writers, artists, small business owners and anyone curious about social media to join artist and writer, and MAA Member, Erika Scott for an entertaining and informative evening on Thursday, November 12: Social Media Is Non-Negotiable!
Erika knows a thing or two about creative journeys. After asking herself, "Who am I and what do I want to do with my life?" she discovered a passion for both painting and writing. An unpublished author of 1.8 books (yes, you read that correctly!), she is a self-proclaimed nerd with an unquenchable desire to help small businesses become more profitable.
And in today's marketplace, she believes that means embracing social media.
With her knack for breaking complicated things into manageable pieces, Erika's goal is to take the intimidation out of social media, replace uncertainty with confidence and perhaps even spark a little excitement along the way. She also promises to have fun. Erika thinks she's funny... and sometimes she actually is!
During this interactive session, participants will explore what's holding them back, why social media is no longer optional, how to navigate changing trends and why imperfection is perfectly acceptable. Erika will offer practical tips on getting started and lead a hands-on workshop in creating a 20-second B-roll post. Bring your phone and be prepared to give it a try!
There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and discover ways to make social media work for you.
Whether you're just beginning or looking to breathe new life into your online presence, this is an opportunity to learn something useful, build confidence and perhaps even have a few laughs along the way.
Come curious, bring your phone and leave a little more social-media savvy!
