The District plans to add nearly 400 new spaces in the next year
The District of Muskoka is expanding licensed childcare under the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care system.
Since 2023, 242 new spaces have been added, including school-based, centre-based, and home childcare spots, meeting 61 per cent of growth targets. Officials aim for 399 new spaces by the end of 2026.
Funding includes $741,000 in start-up grants and $1.8 million in federal infrastructure money to support non-profit and home-based childcare, helping make services more accessible across Muskoka.
