Huntsville Council was advised that staff are amping up on traffic calming measures, in the July 28, 2025, meeting.
Engineering Technician, Brandon Hall, reported that staff have recently installed traffic calming devices at Woodland Heights and Silver Street.
He said it’s a common method used for some time in other municipalities. However, for Huntsville he said, “It is something new. It’s change.”
He advised that the method is a good option for the Town because “they do work.”
The Town has received feedback from community members praising the change, said Hall.
He advised that they also use devices to monitor the results. “They are working. We use traffic counters for results to see that they’re working.”
Councillor, Monty Clouthier, expressed appreciation for staff efforts. He said, “It’s not easy for them [staff] to go out and do that stuff.”
He added, “The traffic calming also protects our workers,” from speeders.
Mayor, Nancy Alcock, also expressed enthusiasm about the traffic calming measures being implemented.
