Smith says new hydro initiative will do more than keep the lights on
Ontario has launched a new advisory panel to modernize the province’s electricity grid and ensure it can meet growing demand.
Energy Minister Stephen Lecce announced the creation of the Panel for Utility Leadership and Service Excellence, or PULSE, which will review how local hydro utilities can deliver more reliable and affordable service.
Associate Minister Graydon Smith says keeping the lights on isn’t just about energy—it’s about supporting jobs, housing, and everyday life. He says the new panel will help utilities keep pace with growth so communities can plan with confidence and residents aren’t left in the dark.
PULSE will provide recommendations by early 2026 on improving customer service, cutting costs, and upgrading Ontario’s aging power system.
