After a 10 year run, the festival takes its final curtain call with Serena Ryder
After a decade of bringing live music to Muskoka, the Muskoka Music Festival will hold its final event this summer at the historic Gravenhurst Opera House.
Festival organizers announced the 10th and final edition of the festival will take place Saturday, August 22nd, featuring seven-time JUNO Award winner Serena Ryder and special guest Mimi O'Bonsawin. Organizers say tickets are already 50 per cent sold.
Founded by musician and artistic director Miranda Mulholland, the festival launched with a vision of creating an intimate, artist-led music experience rooted in family history and community connection in Gravenhurst.
Over the years, the festival evolved through different venues and formats, including drive-in performances during the pandemic in partnership with Muskoka Drive-In, while continuing to support Canadian artists and local audiences.
Mulholland says this year’s lineup feels like a “love letter” to everything the festival has represented over the past decade. She also reflected on the personal significance of the Opera House, originally built 125 years ago by her great-great-grandfather, former Gravenhurst mayor Charles Mickle.
