The District says the new entity will increase improve operations
Muskoka District Council has voted to establish a new Municipal Services Corporation that will allow the Muskoka Airport to operate independently from the municipality.
The change, which takes effect July 1st, follows over a year of analysis, community consultation, and planning.
The District says the new entity will be called Muskoka Airport Inc., and while it will manage airport operations, the District will retain ownership of the land.
Officials say the move will increase flexibility, improve operations, and create more opportunities for business growth at the airport. Transition planning is already underway.
