A busy candidate meeting in Huntsville gave residents a chance to meet and question 22 people running for municipal office.
Candidates from different wards were on hand to answer questions, with affordability, municipal spending, healthcare and keeping young people in the community among the issues discussed.
Mayoral candidate Scott Morrison said Huntsville needs to do more for youth and healthcare, including stronger mental-health services, while also looking for efficiencies in the municipal budget.
Deputy Mayor Dan Armour called for a reset of municipal spending and a governance and financial review, while Dan Caswell said taxpayers need to be respected, while maintaining investments in roads, trails, parks and waterfront access.
Rebecca Mello focused on the loss of young people to larger cities, saying Huntsville needs to create more opportunities for young professionals to stay and build families here.
A mayoral debate will be held on September 17th at the Algonquin Theatre. The municipal election is October 26.
