The fire chiefs say extreme caution should be used when burning, and no daytime burning is allowed
Fire departments across the Almaguin Highlands say the fire danger rating has been raised to HIGH, and are urging residents to use extreme caution with all outdoor burning.
Officials say no daytime burning is allowed under the current conditions, and any permitted fires must be small, fully supervised, and have water and tools immediately available to prevent them from spreading.
The rating is based on the Fire Weather Index, which takes into account temperature, wind, humidity and recent rainfall. Fire crews are reminding residents to check local bylaws and burn restrictions before lighting any fire, as dry conditions continue to increase wildfire risk.
