The town is looking for a sample of impacted homes with the aim of getting provincial disaster relief
The Town of Bracebridge is asking residents affected by April’s spring flooding to come forward as part of a provincial damage assessment process that could help determine eligibility for Ontario’s Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program.
The province is currently reviewing flood-related damage to private properties and is looking for a representative sample of impacted homes in the area.
Eligible properties must be primary residences affected by river overflow or overland flooding, with damage to essential components such as furnaces, hot water tanks or structural elements.
Residents selected for review would need to consent to a site visit and discuss damages and insurance coverage with officials.
The Town says participation in the assessment does not guarantee the provincial disaster assistance program will be activated or that residents will qualify for funding.
Residents interested in having their property considered are asked to contact the Town by June 8.
