The change will begin in the urban core
The Town of Bracebridge is lowering speed limits on many of its roads, starting this year in urban areas.
Following recommendations from the 2023 Transportation Master Plan, the default speed on most local streets will drop from 50 to 40 km/h. Some rural roads will see changes by 2026, based on safety factors like road conditions and traffic volume. School zones won’t be affected.
The move is part of a broader effort to improve road safety, reduce serious collisions, and support future growth. Changes won’t take effect until about 320 new signs are installed.
