Airport officials outlined a plan to reduce the ratepayer burden with new revenue sources
Muskoka Airport is aiming to cut its reliance on taxpayer funding by 72 per cent over the next three years.
Airport officials presented a new strategic plan to District Council this week, projecting the annual operating subsidy will drop from about $359,000 this year to $101,000 by 2029.
Officials point to rising jet traffic, increased fuel sales and new de-icing services as key sources of revenue growth. The airport also plans to expand facilities and create more skilled jobs. However, major infrastructure costs, including runway and taxiway maintenance, could still require taxpayer support.
