Muskoka Lake Fire report that a boat collided with a barge
A lengthy underwater rescue was needed after two people ended up in the water when their boat struck a barge on Lake Joseph Tuesday afternoon.
Barge workers managed to pull one sailor to safety, but the second remained trapped inside the sunken vessel. Muskoka Lakes firefighters launched a fireboat and 2 rescue crafts, while a rescue swimmer worked underwater for 50 minutes to clear debris and reach the trapped sailor.
Both people were eventually freed and transported to hospital.
