Bracebridge urging residents to take precautions

Monday, 29 June 2026 14:23

Humidex values are expected to hit the mid to upper 30's all week.

The Town of Bracebridge is urging residents to take precautions as Environment Canada forecasts a multi-day heat event beginning June 29 and lasting through the weekend, with temperatures reaching 31°C and humidex values in the mid-to-upper 30s.

Officials are advising residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and seek out cooling options such as air-conditioned public spaces. The Muskoka Lumber Community Centre and Sportsplex are open as cooling stations, with the Sportsplex also available July 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. due to the heat.

Residents are also being reminded to check on vulnerable neighbours and seek medical help if symptoms of heat illness develop.
