The hub is expected to help recruit new doctors to the area
A major step forward for local health care was marked in Gravenhurst this week, as a community-driven health hub project officially moved into its first construction phase.
The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst and the Cottage Country Family Health Team held a small groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate upcoming renovations to the long-vacant second floor at 5 Pineridge Gate. The expanded space is expected to help recruit new family doctors and improve access to primary care.
The Town of Gravenhurst and the District of Muskoka have each committed 200-thousand dollars to Phase One, with local leaders calling the project a model for rural health care.
Construction is expected to begin this spring, with the full health hub vision set to be completed by 2027.
