You have until 2pm on Friday to file your nomination papers
If you're considering running in Ontario's 2026 municipal election, there are only two days left to file.
Candidates have until 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, to file their nomination papers. The final list of certified candidates will be released Monday, Aug. 24.
Positions available vary by municipality, but can include mayor, councillor, ward councillor and school board trustee.
Candidates should contact their municipality to arrange an appointment to file their nomination papers and confirm the offices available in their community.

Municipal election voting opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 14, with election day set for Oct. 26, 2026.
