Kirwin was the head of the Huntsville Accessibility Advisory Committee for the town for many years
Ontario recognized some of its top community volunteers, including a Huntsville resident, with a major provincial honour.
The province has awarded 20 recipients the 2024 and 2025 Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, which celebrates exceptional leadership and volunteer service.
Among this year’s honourees is Huntsville’s Debbie Kirwin, who was recognized at Queen’s Park by Lieutenant Governor Edith Dumont for more than two decades of advocacy on accessibility and inclusion.
Officials say Kirwin’s work has helped improve transit, public spaces, and accessibility initiatives across Muskoka and beyond.
