Gravenhurst election field takes shape as nominations close

Randy Jogensen is acclaimed in Ward 4

The race for Gravenhurst council is set to take shape following today’s 2 p.m. deadline for candidates to file in the 2026 municipal election.

Four people are running for mayor: Heidi Lorenz, Jo Morphy, Jeff Watson and Marc Mantha.

There are five candidates competing for three District Councillor positions: Penny Varney, Jaden Hollingshead, Christina Hunter, Erin Strength and Sandy Cairns.

In Ward 1, five candidates are running: Gordie Merton, Heidi Welker, Elizabeth Shannon, Brad Rundle and Erin Gauthier.

Ward 2 has three candidates: Stephen Sims, Anita Latner and David Kellam.

Two candidates are running in Ward 3, Carol Ann LeMoine and Larry Brassard.

Randy Jorgensen is the only candidate in Ward 4.

Ward 5 has two candidates, Tina Kilbourne and Samantha Renee Ennest.

The Town also lists six candidates for school board trustee positions. The municipal election will be held October 26, with voting available by telephone or online.
