Ontario is expanding its emergency response network, with the Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association joining the Ontario Corps.
The announcement was made in Bracebridge yesterday by Emergency Preparedness Minister Jill Dunlop and Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith.
The association can provide access to heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, pumps and generators during floods, wildfires and other emergencies.
Smith says the network proved valuable during last spring’s Muskoka flooding, helping protect homes, businesses and critical infrastructure.
