Dr. Charles Gardner will retire on October 1st
A leadership change is coming to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. Dr. Lisa Simon has been named the new Medical Officer of Health and CEO, pending final approval by the province.
The health unit says Simon will officially take over on October 1st, following the retirement of Dr. Charles Gardner, who has served since 2005.
Dr. Simon brings over a decade of experience with the health unit, with a focus on health equity, Indigenous engagement, and public health emergencies.
The Board of Health says the transition will ensure continuity and strong leadership heading into the fall.
