The canoes will be used for their annual Canoe Mural Project
The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is calling on the community to donate gently used canoes for its fifth annual Canoe Mural Project, taking place June 9th to 14th at River Mill Park.
The initiative will see seven donated canoes transformed into murals by a team of artists, working under the guidance of artist Joyce Jonathan Crone and muralist Gerry Lantaigne. Each mural will reflect the Gifts of the Seven Grandfather Teachings, honouring Indigenous culture and advancing the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation.
Canoes do not need to be seaworthy and can be made of fibreglass, aluminum, or other materials.
