The Township of Lake of Bays is asking residents and business owners to share their thoughts on an updated draft Municipal Accommodation Tax by-law. The revised plan follows months of consultation, including feedback from local accommodation providers and nearly 200 survey responses.
Key changes include creating a Lake of Bays-specific tourism organization to manage half of the MAT funds and developing a tourism strategy to guide long-term spending.
Council will review the draft on October 14, with public comments open until October 13 at lakeofbays.on.ca/mat. If approved, the tax would take effect in January 2026.
