The by-law regulates where and when signs can be placed during an election campaign
Lake of Bays council has approved updates to its election sign bylaw ahead of the municipal election scheduled for October 26.
Township officials say the updated rules were reviewed with clerks from across Muskoka. Unlike Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville, Lake of Bays will continue allowing election signs on some public property and road allowances.
The bylaw governs where election signs can be placed and when they must be removed during federal, provincial and municipal campaigns.
Staff say the decision reflects the township’s rural landscape, where roadside space is often the most visible way for candidates to reach voters during election campaigns.
