The Huntsville Fire Dept. says charges were laid after 10 months of inspections
The Huntsville Fire Department says a landlord has been fined $10,000 after failing to comply with an Ontario Fire Code order.
Fire officials say the case involved a multi-unit rental building where unsafe combustible materials were stored in a basement fuel-fired service room. After 10 months of inspections and attempts to resolve the issue, charges were laid when the hazard remained.
The landlord was found guilty and the fire department is reminding property owners that they are responsible for maintaining safe conditions and following fire regulations.
