Last year 2900 scans were done, and the MAHC expects the longer hours will reduce wait times
MRI services at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare are now running longer hours as the hospital expands access to diagnostic imaging in the region.
As of June 1, the MAHC says MRI scans are available Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., extending service well beyond the previous daytime schedule. The change is aimed at reducing wait times and improving access for patients across Muskoka.
Hospital officials say the expanded hours, supported in part by provincial funding, will allow more patients to be scanned each day as demand continues to grow.
MAHC says nearly 2,900 scans were completed over the past year, and expects capacity to increase further under the new schedule.
