The new MRI will save residents hours of travel
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has officially opened its first-ever MRI suite at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. The new service brings advanced imaging technology to the region, saving local patients thousands of travel hours for diagnostics that once required a trip out of town.
The $10 million project was made possible through a successful fundraising campaign led by the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, with over 2,400 donations from across the region. The machine is expected to perform 5,000 scans a year.
MAHC President and CEO Cheryl Harrison says the MRI will reduce wait times, improve outcomes, and keep care local — calling it a game-changer for rural healthcare.
