The MNR is warning of increased risk of flooding - in effect until March 13th
The Ministry of Natural Resources is warning residents across parts of Muskoka, Parry Sound, and Haliburton to watch for changing water conditions. A Watershed Conditions Statement for water safety is in effect until March 13th for several local river systems, including the Muskoka, Severn, Magnetawan, and Gull watersheds. Officials say melting snow and upcoming rain could push water levels and river flows higher than normal. While lake levels are currently near seasonal targets, they are expected to rise. Residents are urged to stay clear of fast-moving water and avoid ice-covered lakes and rivers, reminding the public that no ice is considered safe this time of year.
