April 27th is the National Day of Mourning for workers who have been killed or injured doing their jobs
Municipalities across the region will lower flags to half-mast during the week of April 27 to recognize the National Day of Mourning.
Communities throughout Canada observe April 28 each year to remember workers who have been killed, injured, or made ill because of their jobs, while also highlighting the importance of workplace safety.
Local governments say the observance is a time for reflection and a reminder that safety on the job is an ongoing responsibility shared by employers, workers, and the public.
Officials are encouraging residents to take a moment on the day of remembrance to honour those affected and to support continued efforts toward safer workplaces across all sectors.
