Muskoka Fire Chiefs set fire danger level to HIGH

Monday, 20 July 2026 10:54

Daytime burning is prohibited and residents must stay with their fire at all times

The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating has been raised to high, and residents are being reminded to use extreme caution with outdoor fires.

Officials say small fires are still permitted in most rural areas, but daytime burning is not allowed. Anyone having a fire must have water and tools available to put it out, and must remain with the fire at all times.

Residents are reminded to check local municipal bylaws before burning. In Huntsville, information is available by calling 705-789-5201.

The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating is updated daily during fire season, which runs from April 1st to October 31st. The rating considers factors including temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind conditions, and forest conditions to determine the risk of fire.
