Despite the change, Daytime Burning is still prohibited
Fire officials in Muskoka say the regional fire danger rating has been lowered to moderate, allowing small outdoor fires in most rural areas. However, residents in Lake of Bays are reminded that daytime burning is still not permitted under local by-laws.
Officials say anyone lighting a fire must keep it under constant supervision and have water and tools on hand to extinguish it if needed.
Residents are also being encouraged to check with their local municipality for specific outdoor burning rules before burning.
