Residents may notice extra fire trucks in the area
The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department will be running a planned emergency exercise next week, testing their water shuttle capabilities in Bala.
The main exercise set for Wednesday, October 4. Operations will be based at Muskoka Lakes Sports Park and a water dump site on Acton Island Road.
Residents may notice extra fire trucks and tankers in the area, but the municipality says there’s no emergency and no risk to public safety.
The exercise is part of a Fire Underwriters Survey accreditation, which helps improve fire protection and could benefit local insurance rates.
