The group has raised over $250,000 over the years for various causes
The Muskoka Novel Marathon is marking its 25th anniversary this summer, bringing writers together in Port Sydney and online for a 72-hour fundraising writing event in support of adult literacy through YMCA Simcoe Muskoka.
Running from July 16 to 19, the volunteer-led marathon challenges participants to write a novel in real time while raising funds for literacy programs.
Organizers say the event has raised more than $250,000 since 2002 and continues to grow, including a second year for its Spanish-language division, which gives writers across Canada a chance to compete and publish in Spanish.
