The Northlander is undergoing testing and commissioning work before being released to Ontario Northland for further testing
The Ontario government says testing is now underway on the first of three new Northlander trainsets, marking another step toward the service’s return.
The train is currently undergoing testing and commissioning work in Toronto. Once that work is complete, it will be moved north, where Ontario Northland will test the train along the full Northlander corridor to ensure all systems meet safety, performance and operating standards.
The province says the Northlander, which will run between Toronto and Timmins with a connection to Cochrane, is expected to return to service this year.
