The addition of trained mental health workers help make mental health emergencies safer
The Ontario Provincial Police in Huntsville is recognizing Mental Health Month by highlighting its Mobile Crisis Response Team serving Huntsville and Lake of Bays.
The program pairs police officers with trained mental health crisis workers to respond to people experiencing mental health emergencies in a safer and more compassionate way.
Police say the partnership helps de-escalate crises, provide support and connect people with local mental health resources while ensuring public safety.
