The plane flipped as it landed
Emergency crews were called to Whalley Lake near Magnetawan, last night after a small red float plane went down. Witnesses say the aircraft crashed between the highway and the lighthouse on the hill, flipping upside down in the water. The pilot managed to escape on his own and was seen standing on a pontoon before being helped by a nearby resident.
Police, fire, and ambulance responded, and the plane was later towed to shore. Fortunately, the pilot was not seriously hurt. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
