Watch for fake 20's & 50's
Police in Huntsville are warning residents and businesses about counterfeit cash circulating in the community.
The Huntsville OPP say several businesses and financial institutions have recently reported fake 20- and 50-dollar bills, resulting in financial losses. Officers say the counterfeit 20s often feel waxy and make a crinkling sound, and people may be relying on quick transactions to pass them off.
Police are urging the public to carefully check bills for raised ink, clear windows and colour-shifting features. Anyone who suspects they’ve received counterfeit money is asked not to use it and to report it to police right away.
