The funds build on a $10 million investment creating new jobs in Huntsville
Parry Sound–Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith says investments in the forestry sector will help protect the industry’s future in the region.
Smith made the comments yesterday as the Ontario government announced an additional $425,000 for Daiken North America’s Huntsville facility to help accelerate production of its new laminated board product.
The funding builds on a previous $10-million provincial investment supporting Daiken’s $70-million facility upgrade, which will create 10 new jobs while protecting 128 existing positions.
Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock says the investment highlights the importance of partnerships between government and local businesses to support manufacturing, innovation and economic growth.
The new wood panel product will be used in areas including flooring, recreational vehicles and modular housing, with plans to bring the made-in-Huntsville product to domestic and international markets.
