More than $4.5 million will help 10,000 people access a family doctor or nurse practitioner
MPP Graydon Smith announced that the government is investing more than $4.5 million to expand access to primary care in Parry Sound-Muskoka.
Officials say the funding will help connect more than 10,000 residents to a family doctor or nurse practitioner as part of the province’s broader plan to attach every Ontarian to primary care by 2029.
Local health teams, including the Cottage Country Family Health Team and West Parry Sound Health Centre, will use the funding to recruit staff and open more patient spaces.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith says the investment is a step toward improving access to care across the region.
The province says it has already surpassed its short-term targets under the plan, connecting hundreds of thousands of residents to care ahead of schedule.
