The closure is being linked to the expansion of beer sales in grocery and convenience stores
The Beer Store in South River is set to close this fall. The company says its location on Highway 124 will shut its doors at the end of business on November 16.
It’s one of several stores across Ontario being closed as part of what the Beer Store calls “marketplace expansion,” with grocery stores required to start accepting empties and returning deposits in January.
The company says it will support affected employees and has launched an online locator to help customers find nearby return sites for bottles and cans.
