The SIU says the man, believed to have a knife was not seriously hurt
Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared an OPP officer who fired a less-lethal weapon during an arrest in Gravenhurst.
The Special Investigations Unit says the officer used an ARWEN launcher on a 60-year-old man suspected of setting fires to several homes on April 4.
The man, believed to be armed with a knife, was not seriously hurt.
SIU Director Joseph Martino ruled the officer’s actions were reasonable given the threat and the man’s refusal to surrender.
