Construction begins this month and some temporary lane restrictions will be in place
Pedestrians in Port Carling and Bala will soon have safer ways to cross some of Muskoka's busiest roads. The District of Muskoka plans to begin construction as early as June on three new pedestrian crossings in the Township of Muskoka Lakes.
In Port Carling, flashing overhead signals will be installed on Muskoka Road 118 near Stephen Road, with the crossing expected to be operational by late summer. In Bala, two signalized crossings are planned at Gordon Street and Portage Street along Muskoka Road 169. Those projects will be completed in phases, with the crossings expected to be fully operational by early fall.
The District says motorists should expect occasional lane restrictions and minor delays during construction as crews work to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians.
