OPP are asking parents to explain the rules
OPP are reminding residents about off-road vehicle laws following an increase in complaints about underage riders operating dirt bikes and ATVs in local areas.
Police say dirt bikes and most off-road vehicles are not permitted on public roads unless specific municipal bylaws allow it. Riders must meet age, licensing, and insurance requirements and wear approved helmets at all times.
Impaired driving laws apply to off-road vehicles, and operators must have permission to ride on private property.
The OPP is urging parents to help young riders understand the rules and stay safe.
